Job Summary<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Barista<\/strong> to join our team. As a barista, you will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by preparing and serving high-quality beverages and food items. You will also be responsible for managing the presentation, hygiene, and overall efficiency of the service area, while maintaining company standards.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As a barista, your main responsibilities will include a combination of food and beverage preparation, customer service, merchandising, and administrative support. These tasks are critical to the successful operation of the food service department.<\/p>\n

1. Beverage Preparation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, and specialty drinks according to standard recipes and customer preferences.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Accurately follow customer requests regarding drink temperature, ingredients, and presentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Operate coffee grinders, espresso machines, blenders, and other beverage-making equipment safely and efficiently.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Grind and blend coffee beans to ensure there is always a ready supply of fresh coffee on hand.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    2. Food Handling & Service<\/strong><\/h4>\n

      Reheat and prepare grab-and-go food items such as pancakes, wraps, sandwiches (sarmies), and other quick meals as per company guidelines.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Present all food items attractively and ensure they meet brand presentation standards.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Label packaged food correctly with product name, preparation date, and expiry date as per food safety regulations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) is applied consistently when presenting and rotating stock.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      3. Customer Engagement<\/strong><\/h4>\n

        Deliver friendly, helpful, and efficient service to all customers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Engage with customers to promote products and offer suggestions based on their preferences or current promotions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Perform live product demonstrations (wet demos) as required to promote product lines or boost sales.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Handle customer queries, requests, and complaints professionally and in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        4. POS Operation and Financial Controls<\/strong><\/h4>\n

          Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Manage till operations, ensuring there are no cash overs or unders by maintaining precision and integrity during cash handling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Maintain accountability for all sales transactions, ensuring they are documented and reconciled correctly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          5. Cleanliness and Hygiene<\/strong><\/h4>\n

            Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols, including proper food storage, waste disposal, and sanitation practices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Perform routine cleaning tasks such as wiping down counters, equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in service and preparation areas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Ensure personal hygiene standards are always met, including wearing appropriate uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            6. Stock Management and Replenishment<\/strong><\/h4>\n

              Monitor and replenish stock levels of beverages, food ingredients, and disposables as needed throughout the day.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Assist in receiving and unpacking deliveries, checking for accuracy, quality, and expiration dates.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Record stock usage and inform management of any shortages or overstocking issues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Follow stock rotation procedures to minimize waste and maintain product quality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

              To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:<\/p>\n

                Education:<\/strong> A minimum of Grade 10<\/strong> is required. (Grade 12 is advantageous.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              • \n

                Experience:<\/strong> At least six (6) months of professional experience<\/strong> in a barista or similar coffee-making role is essential.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              • \n

                Communication Skills:<\/strong> Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required. The ability to speak other local languages is a plus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              • \n

                Transportation:<\/strong> Must have reliable personal transport<\/strong> to and from the workplace.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                Technical Knowledge:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Ability to operate coffee and espresso machines<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  Experience with food heating and preparation equipment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  Familiarity with POS systems (experience with SPAR SIGMA<\/strong> is an added advantage)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
