    Position Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    South African National Parks (SANParks) is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as a Field Team Supervisor<\/strong> in Namaqua National Park<\/strong> on a fixed-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to one of South Africa\u2019s most biodiverse protected areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in rehabilitation efforts<\/strong>, field operations<\/strong>, and team management<\/strong> within the context of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    As a Field Team Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating field-based activities<\/strong>, mentoring EPWP contractors<\/strong>, and ensuring that the work is delivered on time<\/strong>, to a high quality<\/strong>, and in compliance with all relevant health and safety standards<\/strong>. Your role will include hands-on supervision of land rehabilitation<\/strong>, erosion control<\/strong>, alien vegetation removal<\/strong>, and environmental monitoring<\/strong>. You will also be responsible for mapping<\/strong>, data collection<\/strong>, and reporting on project progress<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    This role demands a high degree of fieldwork capability<\/strong>, people management<\/strong>, and environmental knowledge<\/strong>, particularly in soil conservation and land rehabilitation techniques.<\/p>\n

    Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    As Field Team Supervisor, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that environmental field projects are planned, executed, and documented in line with SANParks\u2019 conservation objectives and the framework of the EPWP. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

    1. Field Operations Planning and Implementation<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      \n

      Assist with the detailed planning of project activities<\/strong>, ensuring that timelines, resource needs, and outputs are clearly defined.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Support daily coordination of fieldwork<\/strong>, including scheduling tasks, allocating teams, and managing logistics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Ensure tasks are carried out according to technical specifications and environmental best practices, particularly in land rehabilitation<\/strong>, erosion control<\/strong>, and vegetation management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2. Contractor Supervision and Mentoring<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        Provide on-site supervision to teams of EPWP contractors engaged in physical and environmental restoration work.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Offer technical guidance<\/strong> and practical mentorship to ensure that contractors understand and meet project expectations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Conduct regular assessments of work quality<\/strong>, output<\/strong>, and compliance with work standards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Promote teamwork and productivity through effective communication<\/strong>, problem-solving<\/strong>, and positive engagement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        3. Health, Safety, and Programme Standards Enforcement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Enforce strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations<\/strong> in accordance with national legislation and SANParks policies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Conduct regular safety briefings<\/strong>, ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used properly, and respond promptly to safety incidents or hazards.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Monitor contractor attendance<\/strong>, adherence to codes of conduct, and compliance with programme standards and ethical practices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          4. Field Data Management and Reporting<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          • \n

            Accurately map and record field data<\/strong> using basic GPS or mobile-based mapping tools.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Capture and maintain structured records of work completed, including photo documentation, measurements, and progress logs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Compile weekly and monthly progress reports<\/strong> for submission to Project Managers and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Assist with the evaluation of outcomes and impact of rehabilitation work against defined performance indicators.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            5. Stakeholder Liaison and Communication<\/strong><\/h3>\n

              Act as a communication bridge between field teams, project management staff, and external stakeholders where necessary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement events.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Provide feedback from field operations to inform future planning and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Minimum Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                Matric Certificate \/ Grade 12 \/ NQF Level 4 equivalent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                Additional training or certification in conservation<\/strong>, environmental management<\/strong>, agriculture<\/strong>, or related disciplines<\/strong> will be advantageous.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
