Job Overview

Pedros and Wackys are currently recruiting 15 Chicken Preppers/Cookers to join their restaurant teams at various locations across South Africa.

This opportunity is ideal for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working in a busy kitchen environment and have a passion for food preparation, quality service, and maintaining excellent hygiene standards. Successful candidates will assist in preparing chicken products according to company recipes while ensuring consistency and operational excellence.


About the Role

As a Chicken Prepper/Cooker, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking chicken products in line with company standards. The role involves handling raw ingredients, maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas, and supporting kitchen operations to ensure customers receive high-quality meals.

You will work closely with the restaurant team to maintain food safety standards and contribute to the smooth running of daily operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, cut, and portion chicken according to company specifications.
  • Marinate, season, and coat chicken products using approved recipes and procedures.
  • Ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation standards are consistently maintained.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations when handling ingredients.
  • Store stock correctly and apply First In, First Out (FIFO) stock rotation practices.
  • Keep preparation areas, equipment, and utensils clean and organised.
  • Assist kitchen staff during busy service periods.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or supply issues to supervisors.
  • Adhere to company policies, health and safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Support efficient day-to-day restaurant operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 qualification.
  • Previous kitchen or food preparation experience will be advantageous but is not essential for all locations.
  • Ability to follow recipes and standard operating procedures accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills.
