About the Driver and Handyman Role
As the Driver and Handyman, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of Bestmed Medical Scheme. Your primary responsibilities will include transporting documents, equipment, and supplies safely while carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and handyman duties across the organisation.
The successful candidate will also assist with company events, furniture moving, purchasing maintenance supplies, and ensuring company vehicles remain clean, roadworthy, and compliant with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Deliveries and Collections

Safely transport mail, documents, equipment, and supplies.

Collect and deliver items for internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure all deliveries are completed securely and on schedule.

Maintain professionalism while representing the organisation.
Maintenance and Repairs

Perform general handyman duties.

Carry out routine building maintenance and minor repairs.

Conduct regular inspections of company facilities.

Identify maintenance issues and report major faults promptly.
Troubleshooting and Operational Support

Diagnose and resolve basic maintenance problems.

Assist operational teams with maintenance-related tasks.

Select and use the correct tools and equipment safely.

Support the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation.
Equipment and Event Support

Assist with moving office furniture and equipment.

Provide logistical support during company events.

Ensure equipment is handled safely and efficiently.
Purchasing and Administration

Purchase maintenance materials and operational supplies.

Complete administrative tasks related to maintenance and deliveries.

Maintain accurate records and documentation where required.
Company Vehicle Maintenance

Keep company vehicles clean and well-maintained.

Perform routine vehicle inspections.

Report mechanical faults immediately.

Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and comply with safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

Grade 12 (Matric).

A valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence.

A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).

At least 5 years of professional driving experience.

At least 5 years of handyman or maintenance experience.
