Overview
Lion Smelter is looking for a dependable and experienced Driver (Stores) to assist with logistics and material handling within the plant. This role involves transporting goods, supporting store operations, and ensuring materials are delivered efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
– Operate vehicles such as forklifts, tractors, LDVs, and 10-ton trucks
– Collect and deliver materials and supplies within the plant
– Load and offload goods from incoming deliveries
– Escort supplier deliveries when required
– Assist the stores team with daily duties
– Support stock counting, inventory control, and stock rotation
– Ensure safe storage and handling of materials
– Assist with diesel receiving and issuing processes
– Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping
– Follow all safety procedures and company policies
– Work overtime when operational needs require
Requirements & Skills
– Grade 12 (Matric)
– Valid Code C driver’s licence
– Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
– Forklift driver’s licence
– At least 2 years’ experience driving trucks and LDVs
– Experience in heavy industry (especially smelting) is an advantage
– Good communication skills
– Physically fit and able to handle demanding work
