Food Service Aid X148 Open Positions Monthly Stipend: R3 500.00

Location: Positions are available across numerous hospitals in Vhembe District, Waterberg District, Capricorn District, Mopani District, and Sekhukhune District.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement of Grade 12 or ABET NQF level 4 certificate. A National Vocational certificate in Hospitality Management from TVET will be a significant advantage.
  • Applicants should be ready to work shifts, including night duty, weekends, and public holidays. They should also be open to working extra hours on short notice.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with supplies, equipment, services ordering, and inventory control.
  • Proficiency in following routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Reading and writing skills.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to lead and train students.
  • Capability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of food service line set-up and temperature requirements.
  • Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
  • Understanding of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.

Key Performance Areas:

    • Adhere to HACCP guidelines on food handling and preparations to ensure food safety.
    • Perform pre-preparation and cooking of food for normal and therapeutic diets as per standardized recipes.
    • Portion, serve (plating or bulk serving), and pack meal delivery carts according to ward diet lists.
    • Deliver meals to wards and collect meal delivery carts after serving each meal.
    • Blend food for soft or liquid diets.
    • Assist in packing food into storerooms.
    • Package and label therapeutic diets as per ward diet list.
    • Examine filled trays for completeness.
    • Perform cleaning duties, including dishes, work area, tables, cabinets, and ovens. Empty waste bins as required.
    • Handle dishwasher and clean equipment and utensils before and after use.
    • Report any faults, breakages, and illnesses in the Food Service Unit.
    • Maintain cleanliness of the FSU and food trolleys according to the cleaning schedule and after every meal preparation and serving.
