About the Truck Driver Position
The Truck Driver will play a key role in supporting daily plant operations by transporting materials safely and efficiently between operational sites. The role includes vehicle inspections, loading and offloading goods, completing transport documentation, and ensuring compliance with road traffic laws and workplace safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification

Valid Code 14 (EC) South African driver’s licence
-
Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)

Minimum of five years’ truck driving experience

Experience in mining, heavy industry, or similar environments is preferred

Good knowledge of South African road traffic regulations
-
Medically fit to work in a mining environment
-
Basic literacy and numeracy skills
-
Ability to complete vehicle inspection reports and transport documentation
-
Clear criminal record
-
Must reside within a 30 km radius of Ergo Operations
Key Responsibilities
The successful Truck Driver will be responsible for:

Operating company trucks safely and efficiently
-
Transporting materials, equipment, consumables, spare parts, and operational supplies
-
Conducting daily vehicle inspections before and after each trip
-
Reporting vehicle defects and maintenance issues promptly
-
Ensuring vehicles remain clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained
-
Loading and offloading materials safely to prevent damage or injury
-
Completing delivery notes, trip sheets, logbooks, and inspection records accurately
-
Complying with Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards
-
Reporting accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately
-
Assisting with housekeeping and general operational duties when required
-
Supporting maintenance shutdowns and emergency operational activities
-
Handling hazardous materials safely where authorised
-
Communicating effectively with supervisors, dispatch teams, stores, and operational staff
-
Working overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required
