The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is recruiting 2 Cleaners for healthcare facilities in the Western Cape. The positions are based at Bothasig Community Day Centre and Elsies River Community Health Centre.

Salary and Benefits

The Cleaner position offers a salary of:

R144,024 – R169,656 per annum

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment. Duties may include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining healthcare facilities according to prescribed standards.

  • Dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing and scrubbing floors and surfaces.

  • Following approved cleaning procedures to help prevent the spread of infections.

  • Using cleaning products, materials and equipment safely and correctly.

  • Cleaning, maintaining and storing equipment after use.

  • Monitoring the use of cleaning materials and supplies.

  • Assisting with basic stock control of cleaning products.

  • Supporting supervisors and colleagues with general cleaning requirements.

  • Maintaining hygiene standards throughout the facility.

  • Complying with workplace health, safety and infection prevention policies.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Basic reading and writing skills.

  • Appropriate cleaning experience in a healthcare facility.
