🌿 JOIN SOUTH AFRICA’S CONSERVATION TEAM
Mapungubwe National Park & World Heritage Site is seeking a committed and physically fit Security Guard to join its security division.
The successful candidate will assist in protecting park assets, supporting visitors, safeguarding wildlife, and helping maintain the security of one of South Africa’s most important conservation and heritage sites.
This position reports directly to the Ranger Corporal and Section Ranger.

🏢 ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Security Guard, you will play a vital role in protecting park infrastructure, monitoring access control, supporting anti-poaching efforts, and ensuring the safety of visitors, employees, and wildlife.
The position requires a proactive individual who can respond effectively to security incidents while maintaining high professional standards.

✅ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
🚔 Security & Patrol Duties
✔ Conduct regular patrols throughout the park
✔ Help prevent poaching, trespassing, and illegal activities
✔ Monitor security risks and vulnerable areas
✔ Observe and report suspicious behaviour or incidents
🚧 Access Control
✔ Monitor all park entrances and exits
✔ Verify permits and authorise visitor entry
✔ Maintain accurate vehicle and visitor registers
✔ Prevent unauthorised access to restricted areas
🦏 Asset & Wildlife Protection
✔ Protect park property and infrastructure
✔ Prevent theft and unauthorised removal of assets
✔ Support conservation and wildlife protection initiatives
✔ Report security breaches and emergencies
🚨 Emergency Response
✔ Respond to fires, security incidents, and emergencies
✔ Drive security vehicles when required
✔ Assist with transporting security personnel
👥 Visitor & Community Support
✔ Assist visitors professionally and courteously
✔ Guide community groups, learners, and students before entering the park
✔ Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors

🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
✔ Grade 12 (Matric)
✔ Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Security Guard
✔ Valid PSIRA Grades E, D, and C
✔ Good communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Physical fitness and mental alertness
✔ Ability to work independently and within a team
✔ Responsible, punctual, and professional work ethic
Advantageous Qualifications
⭐ PSIRA Grade B and/or A
⭐ Code C1 Driver’s Licence with a valid PDP
⭐ Knowledge of Tshivenda, Xitsonga, and Sepedi
