I&J, a division of AVI Limited and one of South Africa’s leading seafood companies, is recruiting a permanent Ice Plant Cleaner to join its operations at the Waterfront in Cape Town, Western Cape.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with cleaning experience who are committed to maintaining high hygiene standards in a food manufacturing environment. The successful applicant will help ensure the ice plant remains clean, compliant with HACCP food safety standards, and fully operational while supporting the refrigeration team.

Key Responsibilities

As an Ice Plant Cleaner, your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the ice plant in accordance with company cleaning procedures.

• Following the Ice Plant cleaning code and all food safety regulations.

• Conducting routine inspections to ensure compliance with HACCP standards.

• Completing cleaning and maintenance duties assigned by the Refrigeration Foreman.

• Ensuring the ice plant remains clean, hygienic, and safe at all times.

• Assisting the Ice Plant Operator with general maintenance tasks when required.

• Reporting hygiene, compliance, or operational concerns to the Ice Plant Supervisor.

• Supporting safe work practices and maintaining a clean working environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric).

• Between 1 and 5 years of relevant cleaning experience.

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals will be advantageous.

• Understanding of HR policies will be an added advantage.

• Ability to work effectively in a food manufacturing environment.

• Good understanding of hygiene procedures and food safety standards.
