Job Opportunity
Phakisa Holdings is recruiting an experienced and professional Code 14 Driver to support its logistics operations in Durban-Westville, KwaZulu-Natal.
This role is suited to individuals with extensive driving and delivery experience who are dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and customer service.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to customers, warehouses, distribution centres, and other destinations. The role also involves ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, company procedures, and transport documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Transportation
- Operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Transport goods to customers, warehouses, and distribution centres.
- Complete both local and long-distance deliveries as required.
- Plan delivery routes and ensure deliveries are completed within scheduled timeframes.
Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips.
- Report mechanical faults, breakdowns, and maintenance needs.
- Monitor vehicle condition and ensure roadworthiness.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained according to company standards and regulations.
Cargo Handling
- Verify loads before departure.
- Ensure cargo is loaded, secured, and offloaded correctly.
- Protect goods from damage throughout the transportation process.
Documentation and Reporting
- Complete delivery notes, trip sheets, and transport records.
- Maintain accurate driver logbooks.
- Obtain and submit proof-of-delivery documentation.
- Record fuel consumption and vehicle mileage accurately.
Compliance and Safety
- Comply with all road traffic laws and regulations.
- Follow company transport policies and operating procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, and road hazards immediately.
- Maintain safe driving practices and promote road safety at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
Licences
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in driving and delivery operations.
Additional Requirements
- Clean criminal record.
