Job Opportunity

Vhembe District Municipality is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for five (5) Driver Operator positions within the Technical Services Department.

Job Purpose

The successful applicants will be responsible for operating municipal vehicles and equipment, transporting staff and materials, and supporting service delivery activities related to water, sanitation, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate municipal vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
• Transport employees, tools, and materials to various work sites.
• Carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure vehicles are clean, properly maintained, and roadworthy.
• Complete trip logs, vehicle records, and related documentation.
• Assist operational teams during fieldwork and project activities.
• Report accidents, breakdowns, and mechanical faults promptly.
• Follow all traffic regulations and workplace safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 qualification or equivalent.
• Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Relevant driving experience of at least 1–2 years.

Experience Required

Yes. Applicants must have a minimum of one to two years of relevant experience operating vehicles and/or equipment in a similar environment.
