Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-
Preparing, portioning, and serving meals for normal and special diets.
-
Assisting with receiving, storing, and controlling food supplies.
-
Preparing infant formula and tube feeds in the hospital milk kitchen.
-
Cleaning and sterilising feeding cups, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
-
Washing crockery, cooking utensils, and food preparation equipment.
-
Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
-
Following all health and safety procedures when handling food and equipment.

Assisting with the informal training of newly appointed employees.
-
Attending compulsory in-service training and development programmes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
-
Appropriate experience in a hospital Food Service Unit.
-
Ability to prepare meals using standardised recipes.
-
Knowledge of National Food Service Guidelines.
-
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and basic equipment maintenance.
-
Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
Inherent Requirements
Candidates must be willing and able to:

Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Stand for extended periods during working hours.
