SANParks Seasonal General Worker Jobs 2026
South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting applications for eight Seasonal General Worker positions at West Coast National Park in the Western Cape. These are three-month fixed-term contract opportunities for individuals who are passionate about environmental conservation, visitor services, and maintaining one of South Africa’s most beautiful national parks.
Successful candidates will support daily park operations, including maintenance, cleaning, housekeeping, visitor assistance, and general operational duties to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors and staff.
Important: SANParks does not provide official accommodation for these positions. Successful applicants will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation.

Salary and Benefits
Successful candidates will receive:

Salary: R127,497.16 – R170,600.60 per annum (pro-rata for the three-month contract)

Applicable allowances and benefits in accordance with SANParks Conditions of Service

Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be responsible for:
-
Maintaining park grounds, gardens, visitor facilities, and access control points.
-
Cleaning ablution facilities, picnic areas, accommodation, and day visitor sites.
-
Emptying refuse bins and ensuring proper waste management.
-
Assisting with admissions at the R27 and Langebaan entrance gates.
-
Supporting guided walks, educational programmes, braai facilities, and park events.
-
Performing basic maintenance on irrigation systems, sewerage infrastructure, braai sites, and parking areas.

Monitoring and replenishing cleaning materials, toiletries, stationery, and guest amenities.
-
Reporting maintenance issues, including leaks, damaged furniture, faulty equipment, and electrical problems.

Assisting with inventory control and housekeeping duties.
-
Participating in park patrols and supporting basic law enforcement activities.
-
Assisting with traffic management and visitor parking.
-
Providing visitors with information and responding to customer enquiries.
-
Following all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Carrying out any additional duties assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4, or an equivalent qualification.

One to two years of general work or related experience.
-
Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
-
Knowledge of First Aid principles.
-
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
-
Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
-
Valid SARS Tax Reference Number.
-
Clear criminal record.
-
Good communication skills in English and at least one additional official South African language.

Reliable, punctual, and responsible work ethic.
