Overview
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport is recruiting Driver Operators to support road maintenance and infrastructure projects across multiple regions in KwaZulu-Natal.
This large recruitment drive focuses on individuals who can operate earthmoving and non-earthmoving machinery to maintain and improve provincial road networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate earthmoving and specialised machinery
- Transport teams, materials, and equipment
- Load and offload equipment safely
- Conduct inspections and report mechanical faults
- Keep logbooks and trip records updated
- Perform minor repairs when required
- Clean and maintain machinery (lubrication, upkeep)
- Follow strict safety procedures
- Assist with road grading and maintenance work
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (NQF Level 2)
- Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence with PrDP
- Operating certificate / competency (Pink Card)
- At least 5 years’ experience operating heavy machinery
- Ability to read and write
- Good eyesight and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
