About the Position
As a Cashier, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring all Point of Sale (POS) transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for handling cash, balancing tills, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all purchases are correctly paid for before customers leave the store.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
Your duties will include:

Processing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions accurately.

Balancing cash, floats, and petty cash.
-
Capturing the correct payment method for every transaction.
-
Ensuring sufficient change is available throughout your shift.
-
Completing cash-ups and cash pick-ups accurately.
-
Depositing daily takings into the designated drop safe or vault.
-
Processing payments related to deliveries, quotations, and other store transactions.
Customer Service
You will also be expected to:

Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
-
Assist customers during the checkout process.
-
Direct customers to the appropriate staff member when further assistance is required.

Maintain a neat and professional appearance in line with the company dress code.
Administrative Duties
Responsibilities include:

Completing and filing all cashier-related documentation.
-
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
Safety and Security
You will be required to:
-
Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations.

Report any safety concerns or cash discrepancies to the Store Manager.
-
Protect company cash and keep till passwords secure.
-
Comply with Cashbuild’s cash handling and transportation procedures.
Store Operations
In addition, you will:

Follow Cashbuild’s “Ready for Business” standards.

Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the store.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants should have:

Grade 12 (Matric) or at least one year of relevant work experience.

The ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.

Basic numerical skills with the ability to perform calculations accurately.

Good administrative skills.
-
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

The ability to work effectively under pressure.
