About the Position

As a Forklift Driver, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the forklift safely while supporting daily store operations. Your duties will include loading customer purchases, replenishing stock, maintaining housekeeping standards, and ensuring a safe working environment. You will also assist customers by handling products with care and delivering friendly, efficient service.


Key Responsibilities

Forklift Operations

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Safely operating the forklift in accordance with company procedures.

  • Conducting daily forklift inspections and completing inspection checklists.

  • Reporting any mechanical faults or defects immediately.

  • Ensuring the forklift is serviced according to the maintenance schedule.

  • Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations.

  • Wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while operating the forklift.

Customer Service

You will be expected to:

  • Welcome and assist customers in a professional manner.

  • Help customers with product enquiries and direct them where necessary.

  • Assist in resolving customer complaints.

  • Carefully load customer purchases to prevent damage.

  • Promote additional products and store services, including:

    • Delivery services

    • Glass cutting

    • Plan reading

    • Credit programmes

    • Special orders

    • Trusses

    • Distance ordering

    • VIC Customer Programme

Merchandising

Your duties will also include:

  • Replenishing and merchandising stock according to approved layouts and planograms.

  • Keeping shelves and bulk stock areas fully stocked.

  • Ensuring shelf pricing is accurate and up to date.

Housekeeping

You will be responsible for:

  • Keeping work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.

  • Packing away stock immediately after deliveries.

  • Completing housekeeping checklists as required.

Administration

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Following Cashbuild’s “Ready for Business” standards.

  • Monitoring stationery and store supplies where required.

  • Assisting with stock control and loss prevention.

  • Reporting suspicious activities or stock discrepancies to management.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or at least one year of relevant work experience.

  • A valid Forklift Licence.

  • The ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.

  • Basic numerical skills and the ability to perform simple calculations accurately.

  • Physical fitness to safely operate a forklift.

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

  • The ability to perform well under pressure.
