About the Learnership


The DHL Learnership Programme is designed to provide unemployed youth with the knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience needed to build a successful career in logistics and international freight forwarding.

Throughout the 12-month programme, learners will receive structured classroom-based learning combined with hands-on experience in import, export, and freight forwarding operations. Participants will also gain exposure to industry best practices while working alongside experienced logistics professionals.

This programme provides an excellent opportunity to develop valuable skills with a globally recognised company operating in more than 220 countries and territories.


Key Responsibilities

As a learner, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with import and export operational activities.

  • Supporting freight forwarding processes and daily logistics operations.

  • Receiving, reconciling, and processing operational documentation.

  • Consolidating and summarising operational information.

  • Updating and maintaining operational systems as instructed.

  • Performing administrative duties, including filing, scanning, and reporting.

  • Following DHL’s operational procedures and company policies.

  • Working closely with colleagues to support daily business activities.

  • Communicating effectively with team members regarding assigned tasks.

  • Resolving routine work-related issues under supervision.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or a relevant qualification in Transport & Logistics or Business.

  • A minimum of 65% in English in Matric.

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age.

  • Be a South African citizen.

  • Be currently unemployed.

  • Not be enrolled in any full-time studies.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office will be advantageous.
