Position Overview

Pedros is seeking energetic, reliable and customer-focused Cashiers to join its restaurant teams in Paarl, Pinetown and Polokwane Central. These opportunities are linked to new restaurant openings, allowing successful applicants to become part of the team from the early stages of operations while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced food-service environment.

The Cashier will be responsible for accurately processing customer orders and payments, operating the point-of-sale system, promoting current specials and assisting customers. The role also requires the employee to maintain a clean and organised front-counter area while delivering efficient and professional customer service.

Previous cashier or retail experience is preferred. However, the position may be suitable for entry-level applicants who demonstrate strong numerical ability, good communication skills and a commitment to customer service.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service: Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner, assist them with their orders and respond appropriately to basic questions or concerns.

Order Processing: Take customer orders accurately and ensure that all information is correctly captured on the POS system.

Payment Processing: Handle cash, card and digital payments accurately and responsibly while issuing the correct receipts.

POS Operations: Operate the restaurant’s point-of-sale system and assist with basic POS-related issues when required.

Refunds and Exchanges: Process authorised refunds or exchanges in accordance with company procedures.

Sales Promotion: Inform customers about current specials and promotions and recommend additional products where appropriate.

Queue Management: Manage customer queues efficiently and maintain a smooth service during busy trading periods.

Customer Complaints: Address basic customer concerns professionally and refer more serious complaints to the appropriate manager.

Cash Management: Handle company cash responsibly, maintain accurate transactions and assist with balancing the till at the end of each shift.

Reporting: Complete and submit required end-of-shift reports accurately.

Loss Prevention: Follow company procedures to protect cash, stock and other company assets and help minimise losses.

Team Support: Work closely with other restaurant employees and provide assistance during busy periods to ensure efficient restaurant operations.

Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean, neat and organised front-counter and customer-service area.


Minimum Requirements

Experience: Previous cashier, retail or restaurant experience is preferred but may not be essential for suitable entry-level candidates.

Numeracy: Strong numerical skills and the ability to process transactions accurately.

Customer Service: A strong customer-focused approach and the ability to interact professionally with different customers.

Appearance: A neat, professional and presentable appearance.

Work Environment: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment, particularly during busy trading periods.
