1. Quantity Surveyor: Infrastructure Management
SANParks requires the services of a Quantity Surveyor based in the Kruger National Park (KNP – Skukuza) to contribute and serve under the Project Management unit under Infrastructure Management.
Location
Requirements
- A Degree/ BSC/ B-Tech in Quantity Surveying. (NQF Level 7). (Essential).
- Relevant Honours Degree (NQF level 8) (an added advantage).
- Minimum 5-7 years post-qualification experience working under Quantity Surveying firm.
- Computer Literate (MS Office Suit).
- Proficiency in Computer-aided Quantity Surveying applications.
- Registered as professional quantity surveyor will be an added advantage.
- Driver’s licence and own transport is essential.
- Sound knowledge of the OHSACT and Construction Regulations.
- Stable employment record and contactable references.
Responsibilities
- Incumbent will perform effective control and management of cost and budget.
- Provide support and expertise at every stage of the project from initial feasibility to Project final account.
- Site Measurements, preparation of Bill of Quantity.
- Analyse and forecast against estimated cash flows.
- Prepare monthly cost billing and payment certificates.
- Prepare & develop construction programmes.
- Assist with preparation management reports as and when required.
- Perform any other general estimating or quality surveying duties as may be directed by management.
- Comply with all internal control, policies procedures and standards.

2. Boma Assistant (x3)
Location
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the wildlife capture industry / care of wildlife in holding facilities.
- Possession of a Grade 12 certificate.
- Possession of a National Diploma: Nature Conservation / Wildlife Management or equivalent would be an added advantage.
- Possess job-related knowledge of wildlife industry standard operating procedures and animal welfare requirements.
- Be willing to work flexible hours e.g. weekends & after hours when required.
- Must have a basic understanding of the principles of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Must be in good physical health.
- Experience with maintenance tasks (brickwork, plastering, welding, carpentry or plumbing) would be an advantage.
- Experience as a brush-cutter and chainsaw operator, and experience with driving tractors would be an advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Code B or C1 drivers’ licence would be an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Provide fodder and water to wildlife in the holding facility, timeously according to agreed nutritional requirements.
- Maintain facility hygiene and remove and dispose of animal waste and spoiled fodder from the holding facility.
- Monitor and report on any perceived concerns pertaining to the welfare of wildlife held in the boma facility or the fodder stock.
- Assist in handling of wildlife during the implementation of wildlife sales/translocation projects or research projects implemented by the department.
- Assist with offloading and storage of fodder stock deliveries (sourced internally and externally).
- Assist in general Boma operations.
- Maintain the cleanliness of buildings, stores and other structures.
- Perform maintenance tasks at the facilities managed by the department, including clearing of excess vegetation, fence maintenance, application of approved herbicides, repairs to boma structures etc.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Maintain a general checklist of animals in captivity as part of the monitoring requirement by the job function.
- Adhere to OHS standard operating procedures.
