Job Overview
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport is recruiting Driver Operators to assist with road construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects across several regions in KwaZulu-Natal.
Successful candidates will operate earthmoving and specialised machinery used in road maintenance while ensuring that provincial roads remain safe, accessible, and properly maintained.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 10 (NQF Level 2)

Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence with PrDP

Equipment Operating Certificate / Departmental Competency (Pink Card)

Minimum 5 years’ experience operating specialised equipment

Key Duties

Operate earthmoving and specialised machinery

Transport work teams, equipment, and materials

Load and offload equipment safely

Conduct equipment inspections and report mechanical faults

Maintain trip authorisations and logbooks

Perform minor mechanical repairs where required

Clean and lubricate machinery regularly

Follow safety regulations and operational procedures

Assist with grading and maintenance of gravel roads
