Road Worker Vacancies – Department of Transport

Minimum Requirements

NQF Level 1 (Grade 5 or higher) or NQF Level 2 (ABET Level 2 Certificate or equivalent).

Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing tasks.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Basic computer literacy.

Sound planning and organisational skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Appointed candidates will be responsible for a range of road construction and maintenance activities, including but not limited to:

Constructing and maintaining culverts and side drains.

Installing and repairing steel guardrails and gabion structures.

Carrying out earthworks and road layer construction.
-
Cleaning and maintaining roads, sidewalks, and rest areas.
-
Surfacing roads and repairing potholes.
-
Placing and maintaining road markings, studs, and signage.
-
Installing distance markers, barricades, and safety equipment at work sites.

Performing vegetation control, grass cutting, brush clearing, and fence maintenance.
