Job Overview

The Department of Water and Sanitation is recruiting 25 General Workers to support maintenance activities at various water infrastructure sites. These permanent entry-level roles fall under the Infrastructure Management branch and focus on maintaining dams, canals, pipelines, and surrounding facilities.

Employees will assist with routine maintenance tasks such as gardening, weed control, painting, and maintaining fire breaks, while ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• ABET Certificate

• Basic knowledge of general worker duties and use of gardening equipment

• Understanding of lawn care and landscaping tasks

• Basic knowledge of maintenance practices for water infrastructure and related facilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks such as gardening, weed control, painting, fire break maintenance, and herbicide application

• Conduct routine inspections of departmental infrastructure

• Maintain government water facilities including canals, pipelines, dams, terrain, and buildings

• Report faults, defects, and safety risks to supervisors

• Assist with loading and offloading equipment

• Follow the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and other safety regulations

• Support additional operational duties when required
