Role Overview
Sasol is offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring artisans to join its Learner Artisan: Millwright programme. This apprenticeship is structured in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB). The programme is designed to develop competent, qualified Millwrights through a combination of practical workplace exposure and technical training.
Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in maintaining, repairing, and improving plant and equipment systems, while developing critical technical and safety competencies within an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Learner Artisan: Millwright, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Demonstrating competence in assigned plant, mining, equipment, and system-related tasks

Using plant maintenance documentation and reporting systems accurately and efficiently
-
Applying work management principles, including planning, scheduling, and execution of tasks
-
Understanding and applying plant- and mine-specific process knowledge in line with safety management systems such as IMS and MBO
-
Identifying workplace hazards and conducting task-based risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment
-
Participating in daily toolbox talks and team meetings to review work plans and progress
-
Supporting operational objectives by meeting deadlines and providing regular feedback to supervisors
-
Assisting with root cause analysis and risk assessments to improve safety and operational performance
-
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and complying with waste management procedures
-
Taking part in regular performance reviews to support personal growth and development
-
Leading by example through teamwork, accountability, and initiative
-
Assisting in the development of work instructions to enhance team capability
-
Contributing to maintenance strategies through inspections and equipment assessments
-
Providing input to improve maintenance processes and ensure timely replacement of critical spare parts
Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Matric (Grade 12) certificate or an N3 qualification, or equivalent

Between 0 and 1 year of relevant experience in a related technical field
