The Department is inviting applications for the position of Administration Clerk within the Directorate: Agricultural Inputs Control. This opportunity is well suited for individuals with a Grade 12 qualification who are interested in beginning a career in the Public Service.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • No prior work experience required

  • Basic computer skills and data capturing ability

  • General understanding of clerical and administrative functions


Knowledge Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of administrative procedures and clerical practices

  • Knowledge of Public Service legislation and frameworks

  • Familiarity with office processes and workplace procedures

  • Ability to manage records, data, and basic statistics


Skills and Competencies

Successful applicants should possess:

Key Duties

The appointed candidate will provide administrative support within the Directorate, including:

General Administration

  • Record, file, and retrieve documents and information

  • Maintain registers, filing systems, and statistical records

  • Respond to routine enquiries

  • Distribute correspondence and documents

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail registers

  • Type official correspondence when required

Supply Chain Support

  • Assist with procurement processes

  • Obtain quotations for purchases

  • Prepare procurement documentation

  • Manage stationery stock levels

  • Update and maintain the asset register

Personnel Administration

  • Maintain leave and attendance records

  • Keep personnel files updated

  • Assist with travel and accommodation arrangements

Financial Administration

  • Capture expenditure information

  • Verify travel and subsistence claims

  • Manage petty cash and telephone accounts

This position provides exposure to a wide range of administrative functions within government and offers a solid foundation for career growth in the public sector.
