Programme Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering unemployed graduates the opportunity to participate in a 24-month Workplace Integrated Learning Internship Programme, funded by SASSETA.

The Social Work Intern will provide occupational social work services at SAPS training academies while working under the supervision of a qualified Social Worker.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver occupational social work support services

  • Implement preventative and restorative social work interventions

  • Apply community-based social work methods within the workplace environment

  • Assist with employee wellness and wellbeing initiatives

  • Participate in training and capacity-building programmes

  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and governance frameworks

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35

  • Hold a BA Degree in Social Work (NQF Level 6 or higher)

  • Must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) with valid 2025/2026 registration

  • Basic computer literacy (knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint is an advantage)

  • No criminal record

  • Must be unemployed and must not have previously participated in a similar internship programme
