Overview

The Department of Water and Sanitation is hiring 19 General Workers at Marico Dam within the Northern Operations Cluster. The role focuses on supporting the upkeep and maintenance of government water infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

Minimum Requirements

• ABET qualification (minimum requirement)

• Additional qualifications are an advantage

• Previous experience in similar work is beneficial

• Basic knowledge of gardening tools and equipment

• Understanding of lawn care and maintenance practices

• Awareness of basic infrastructure maintenance procedures

• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations

Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks such as weed removal, gardening, painting, and firebreak upkeep

• Apply herbicides where required

• Perform routine inspections of infrastructure

• Maintain dams, canals, pipelines, servitudes, buildings, and surrounding areas

• Identify and report faults, damage, or safety risks to supervisors

• Load and offload tools and equipment

• Follow all Occupational Health and Safety regulations

• Assist with other general duties as assigned by management
