1. Learner Fuel Tanker Driver / General Worker

Operating Entity: Mining – including Sasol Coal Supply, Central Workshop, Directional Drilling & Twistdraai Export Plant
Geographical Area: Sasolburg / Secunda / other mining‑related sites
Purpose
This role supports maintenance, drilling, and workshop teams by assisting with equipment upkeep, welding, fitting, and electrical support. The Learner Fuel Tanker Driver will also gain driving experience (Code 14) and help ensure that machinery and support systems operate reliably, safely, and in accordance with standards.
Core Responsibilities
-
Perform welding tasks using flux core welding and other welding processes as needed for mining equipment.

Use cutting tools (for example oxy‑fuel gas cutting equipment) safely.
-
Assist in operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment, ensuring loads are handled correctly and safely.
-
Conduct visual inspections of work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety norms.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and codes of practice (COPs), particularly with respect to workplace housekeeping.

Participate in daily safety or morning meetings; perform hazard identification and task risk assessments before commencing work.

Report task progress to team leads/supervisors; assist with achieving team deadlines.

Support artisans (skilled tradespersons) with daily tasks; observe and help implement cost‑saving or efficiency improvements.

Operate or assist with maintenance of underground machinery where relevant, such as shuttle cars, roof bolters, crushers, etc.
Qualifications
Essential:

Grade 12 (Matric), or N3 / NCV Level 4 (or equivalent qualification) especially if Maths & Science are included.
Advantageous:

Possession of a driver’s licence (Code 10 or better; Code 14 may be required or trained for).

First Aid Certificate.

Medical fitness certificate or proof of physical ability to perform tasks safely.
Skills & Attributes

No prior welding experience required — however, ability to safely use welding equipment, cutting torches, or angle grinders is beneficial.

Ability to follow instructions and learn under supervision.

Good safety awareness; readiness to adhere to safety drills, inspections, and housekeeping standards.

Physical fitness, detail orientation, teamwork mentality.

2. Learner: Administration

Contract: 12‑month Fixed Term Learnership
Operating Entity: HCA: Group Rewards & Human Capital Solutions
Location: Sasolburg, Secunda, Sandton, Durban (depending on departmental need)
Purpose
This is a structured learnership combining theory and practice to build foundational business and administrative skills. The role is designed for beginners or entry‑level learners who want to build competence in business operations and administration, to become work‑ready in office and support functions.
Programme Structure

Duration: 12 months.
-
Includes theoretical learning aligned with an NQF qualification‑framework in topics such as: business operations, entrepreneurship, business accounting, mathematics literacy, communication, computer skills, and customer service.
-
Includes practical on‑the‑job experience, assisting managers or departments with administrative tasks to build proficiency in real business environments.
Key Responsibilities
-
Support administrative tasks: documentation, data entry, record keeping, managing routine correspondence.
-
Assist with scheduling, file management, maintaining digital or physical filing systems.
-
Help in preparing reports, assisting managers, possibly helping with basic financial tasks or tracking.
-
Use computer software tools as required — spreadsheets, word processing, email, scheduling tools.

Maintain professionalism in communication (verbal and written), both internally and with any external stakeholders.

Uphold standards of punctuality, reliability, quality of output, and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
Essential:

3. Learner Artisan: Chemical Plant Operator

Operating Entity: EMI: Chemical Operations
Locations: Sasolburg & Secunda
Purpose
This is a technical training role aimed at preparing the individual to become a qualified Chemical Plant Operator in line with SETA / QCTO or other recognised industry standards. The role will involve both theoretical knowledge and on‑site practical training in chemical plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Gain competence in specific areas related to operations of a chemical plant: including control of processes, managing plant equipment, understanding instrumentation, flow, pressure, temperature, etc.
-
Learn to read and apply plant operating procedures, process control documentation, and systems.
-
Apply safety management practices: IMS (Integrated Management Systems), MBO (Management By Objectives), risk and emergency response protocols.
-
Conduct hazard identification, task risk assessment before and during tasks. Participate in root cause analysis when incidents occur.
-
Maintain high standards of housekeeping; ensure chemical waste disposal and storage are handled properly.
-
Report operational metrics, performance data; engage in continuous improvement suggestions.
-
Participate in performance reviews; identify your own training and skill gaps and work with mentors/supervisors to remedy them.

Lead by example in safety, teamwork and supporting the overall operational objectives of chemical operations.
Qualifications
