We are currently recruiting three dedicated and responsible Soup Truck Drivers to join our team. Purpose of the Position

As a Soup Truck Driver, your primary responsibility will be the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of freshly prepared soup meals to designated community sites. You will also play a role in basic vehicle maintenance, food safety, and customer interaction. This role requires someone dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently while still functioning as part of a greater team.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in either Alexandra, Protea Glen, or within the Mpumalanga Region, depending on operational requirements.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Driving and Route Management

-Operate a soup truck safely and in accordance with South African road regulations.

-Follow pre-assigned routes and ensure all deliveries are completed within schedule.

-Maintain strict adherence to timeframes to ensure food quality and service efficiency.

-Remain alert and cautious while driving, especially in high-traffic or underserved areas.

2. Food Transport and Safety

-Ensure all soups and food items are transported in accordance with hygiene and food safety standards.

-Monitor and maintain the temperature and condition of the food during transit.

-Assist with correct loading and unloading procedures to prevent spillage, contamination, or loss.

3. Customer and Community Engagement

-Provide respectful, courteous service at each delivery location.

-Serve as a professional representative of the organisation, responding to basic questions or concerns.

-Foster positive interactions with community members while maintaining focus on delivery objectives.

4. Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections

-Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality.

-Check fuel levels, tyre pressure, oil, and other vehicle essentials regularly.-Report any mechanical faults, service needs, or damages immediately to the fleet coordinator or supervisor.

-Keep the truck clean, organised, and ready for daily operations.

5. Inventory Handling and Record-Keeping

-Assist with the loading and unloading of soup containers and supplies at the distribution site.

-Count and verify inventory during loading to ensure accurate deliveries.

-Maintain basic records of deliveries completed, stock usage, or anomalies during shifts.

-Ensure all returned items, containers, and packaging are accounted for and handled responsibly.

6. Safety, Hygiene, and Compliance

-Follow all occupational health and safety procedures as outlined by the organisation.

-Wear appropriate protective gear (PPE) when handling food containers or working in distribution areas.

-Uphold high personal hygiene and cleanliness standards to ensure safe food delivery.

-Adhere to COVID-19 protocols or other public health regulations where applicable.


Minimum Requirements

Education

-Minimum qualification: Grade 10 (Standard 8).

-Matric/Grade 12 is not required but will be beneficial.-

Licensing

-Valid Code 10 (C1) Driver’s Licence is essential.

A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is highly advantageous.

-Must have a clean driving record and be comfortable driving in both urban and rural areas.

Experience

-Previous experience in driving, delivery services, or logistics is preferred.

-Experience in food service or community-based programmes will be a plus.

-Candidates without experience but who demonstrate strong driving ability and reliability will still be considered.

-Tech-savvy enough to use simple devices for communication or route planning, if needed.-

Work Locations & Allocation

Drivers will be stationed at one of the following regional locations:

-Alexandra (Johannesburg)

-Protea Glen (Johannesburg)

-Mpumalanga Region

Placement will be based on operational needs, proximity to residence, and logistical efficiency. Applicants must be willing to travel within or between locations as required.
