As part of our continued growth and operational excellence, we are looking for a Senior Payments Administrator to join our Operations Division in Douglas, Isle of Man.

Job Overview

The Senior Payments Administrator plays a key role in managing the bank’s payment operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with internal and external regulations.

This position is ideal for an individual with extensive banking experience and a solid understanding of payments administration, who thrives under pressure and is driven by accuracy, efficiency, and excellence in customer service.

You will be responsible for processing payments, managing exceptions, supporting the Payments Manager, and mentoring junior team members while maintaining operational effectiveness and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Payments Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing Payments & Foreign Exchange Transactions:
    Execute and book all foreign exchange and payment transactions accurately and within service-level deadlines, ensuring compliance with Standard Bank procedures.

  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:
    Provide outstanding support by understanding client needs, resolving queries promptly, and maintaining strong communication across both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Identify, investigate, and escalate any suspicious transactions that may breach Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), or other regulatory standards.

  • Workflow Management:
    Support the Payments Manager in coordinating and managing daily workflow across the team to ensure smooth, efficient operations.

  • Process Improvement:
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and supporting cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
    Maintain accurate and complete records of all payments and transactions in accordance with internal policies and compliance requirements.

  • Team Support:
    Assist junior staff members by providing guidance, sharing knowledge, and ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.


Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Matric / A-Levels / Secondary or High School qualification (minimum requirement).

Experience:

  • 3–4 years of banking operations experience, preferably in payments or foreign exchange.

  • Proven experience in handling large transaction volumes within strict service-level deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of reconciliation, risk management, and banking systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in payments processing systems, banking applications, and operational workflows.

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks including AML, KYC, and international financial regulations.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.

Additional Information

  • This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Douglas, Isle of Man.

  • Relocation or visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Only residents of the Isle of Man will be considered.

  • Working hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to meet operational demands.
