Job Purpose

To safely operate, monitor, and maintain designated Brewing/Packaging equipment and processes to ensure optimal line efficiency, consistent product quality, and full compliance with safety, hygiene, and production standards.


Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation & Process Control

  • Operate manual and automated packaging equipment according to approved standards.

  • Set up, start, stop, and shut down machines as per operating procedures.

  • Monitor production equipment for performance deviations and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain continuous equipment operation to meet shift targets and reduce downtime.

  • Ensure all machinery is cleaned, inspected, and prepared before and after production runs.

Production Planning & Execution

  • Interpret and implement the daily/shift production plan.

  • Prepare materials, resources, and equipment in alignment with scheduled production volumes.

  • Track production output to ensure alignment with performance KPIs.

  • Coordinate with supervisors and team members to maintain workflow efficiency.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct routine in-process quality checks (fill levels, labeling, sealing, carbonation, appearance).

  • Record findings and escalate non-conformances immediately.

  • Maintain strict adherence to SAB’s quality, product integrity, and food-safety specifications.

  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective action on quality issues.

Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all hygiene, food safety, and housekeeping requirements.

  • Comply with safety protocols, PPE requirements, and risk-mitigation procedures.

  • Carry out equipment sanitation, cleaning, and product-contact surface checks.

  • Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and incidents promptly.

Administration & Reporting

  • Complete production documentation, machine logs, and performance records.

  • Capture operational data on PIMS & POMS systems accurately.

  • Monitor trends and take action when performance drops or quality issues emerge.

  • Contribute to shift handovers, daily performance reviews, and AB reports.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in problem-solving activities and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Use OFRs as required and support line optimization projects.

  • Assist maintenance teams by reporting breakdown symptoms and supporting machine inspections.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.

  • Minimum 9 months on-the-job packaging training.

  • Completion of SKAP within 12 months (mandatory).

  • Experience in an FMCG Packaging/Manufacturing environment (advantageous).

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of production equipment.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, or overtime when required.
