Shelf Packer Job Description

Job Title: Shelf Packer
Department: Store Operations
Reporting To: Department Manager / Store Manager


Job Purpose

To ensure shelves are fully stocked, neatly arranged, and visually appealing at all times, while assisting customers and maintaining a clean, safe shopping environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Unpack and merchandise stock according to store standards

  • Refill shelves and ensure products are correctly displayed

  • Rotate stock using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles

  • Check expiry dates and remove damaged or expired products

  • Ensure correct pricing and product labelling

  • Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned aisles

  • Assist customers with product location and general enquiries

  • Report low stock levels to supervisors

  • Support stock takes and inventory control processes

  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 or Grade 12

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills

  • Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays

  • Physically fit and able to lift and move stock

  • Clear communication skills
