Job Overview

The Cleaner will ensure that court buildings, magistrate offices, and regional offices remain clean, hygienic, and safe. Duties include routine cleaning of offices, courtrooms, holding cells, kitchens, and sanitation areas to maintain a professional and healthy work environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 / Standard 8 / ABET Level 4 or equivalent qualification

  • No prior experience required

  • Basic reading, writing, and communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to carry out regular cleaning duties

  • Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods

  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) will be an advantage

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General Cleaning

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors

  • Dust and polish furniture

  • Vacuum carpets

  • Clean windows, doors, and walls

  • Strip and polish floors when necessary

Sanitation Cleaning

  • Clean toilets, basins, and tiled surfaces

  • Conduct deep cleaning of bathroom facilities

  • Refill soap dispensers and toilet paper

  • Wash and maintain toilet floors

Kitchen Cleaning

  • Clean kitchen floors and surfaces

  • Wash kitchen utensils

  • Assist with serving tea and coffee during meetings

Safety and Maintenance Support

  • Empty and clean waste bins

  • Report any defects or maintenance issues noticed during cleaning

  • Warn staff about slippery floors

  • Inform supervisors about faulty lights, locks, or other damages

  • Conduct stock checks of cleaning materials
