Overview

Kumba Iron Ore is inviting applications for a Warehouse Assistant on a six-month fixed-term contract. The role involves supporting warehouse operations by receiving, storing, issuing, and moving goods while ensuring accurate inventory control, safe work practices, and efficient warehouse operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times

  • Participate in safety discussions such as SLAMs, HPHs, and risk assessments

  • Handle inventory movements including receiving, binning, picking, issuing, and deliveries

  • Assist with Goods Received Voucher (GRV) system queries

  • Apply FIFO (First-In-First-Out) stock rotation principles

  • Conduct cycle counts, bin verification, and stock labelling

  • Organise warehouse space according to established storage standards

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness using 5S housekeeping principles

  • Report damaged or missing stock to the supervisor

  • Prepare stock variance and discrepancy reports

  • Coordinate delivery of materials to plant areas

  • Support OTIF (On Time In Full) processes

  • Assist with more complex warehouse operations when required


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Valid South African driver’s licence

  • 1–2 years of relevant warehouse experience

  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP)

Advantage:

  • Certificate in Supply Chain or Logistics (NQF Level 4)


Technical Competencies

  • Understanding of warehouse and inventory control procedures

  • Ability to solve problems systematically

  • Knowledge of warehouse standards and best practices

  • Ability to identify operational risks and opportunities for improvement
