Programme Overview
The Department of Tourism is inviting unemployed youth to apply for the Tourism Monitors Programme, a short-term opportunity aimed at providing work experience in the tourism sector.
Successful applicants will enter into a four-month contract with a service provider appointed by the department. Participants will be placed at tourism attractions or sites located close to where they live.
Applicants are encouraged to apply only to municipalities or tourism sites within their local areas.
Minimum Requirements

Must be a South African citizen (certified copy of ID required)

Unemployed youth aged 18–35 years

Matric certificate or equivalent qualification

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
-
Must live within 40–50 km of the tourism attraction or site (proof of residence required and must not be older than 3 months)

Must have reliable transport to travel to and from the workplace

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays

Interest or passion for the tourism industry

Qualification in tourism, environmental studies, or related fields
Disqualification Criteria

More than one applicant per household will not be considered

Affidavits will not be accepted as proof of residence
