The programme integrates theoretical instruction with structured workplace experience, providing participants with practical, industry-aligned pattern-making skills that enhance employability and workplace readiness.

Programme Description

The Pattern Making Programme aims to develop technically competent, employment-ready pattern makers through a comprehensive learning approach that combines classroom-based training, practical application, and industry exposure.

Participants will be trained to:

  • Produce accurate patterns from design specifications

  • Use pattern-making software effectively

  • Apply sustainable practices in garment production

  • Work productively within manufacturing teams

  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally

Training is delivered through a rotational learning model, consisting of:

  • Two weeks of classroom-based theoretical training per month

  • Two weeks of supervised workplace experience per month

Interns will work alongside experienced industry professionals, gaining practical exposure to manufacturing processes, tools, and best practices.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens

  • Be between 18 and 33 years of age

  • Be unemployed

  • Have no criminal record

  • Hold a diploma or degree, or be in their final year of study, in:

    • Clothing Production

    • Fashion Design

    • Or a related qualification
