Programme Overview
The Sector-Specific Trainee (SST) Programme is a 12-month structured development programme designed to provide young people and graduates with meaningful workplace exposure. The programme aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, preparing participants for sustainable employment within the logistics and transport sector.
Trainees will receive hands-on experience through structured training, mentorship, and active participation in both operational and administrative functions at the Durban Terminals. The programme further focuses on professional growth, teamwork, and adherence to organisational policies and standards.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Grade 12 / Matric (essential)

TVET N6 qualification in Logistics or Transport (advantageous)

Aged between 18 and 35 years
-
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
-
Assist with assigned departmental projects and workstreams
-
Perform routine operational tasks under supervision
-
Provide administrative support, including documentation and reporting
Learning and Development

Participate in formal training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes
-
Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical workplace exposure
-
Develop analytical and problem-solving skills through allocated tasks
Communication and Teamwork

Provide regular progress updates on assigned tasks and projects

Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve operational objectives
Compliance and Safety

Comply with organisational policies, procedures, and safety requirements

Uphold ethical conduct, confidentiality, and professional integrity at all times
